It was a nice surprise this week to find out that Andy has now dubbed Tuesdays as Timmie Tuesdays! Which means on Wednesday mornings I wake up to a double double in my fridge waiting to be nuked in the microwave. It made me a very happy girl.

Along with that happy news I have semi-bad news. I went in to the clinic today to find out all the test results for my finger and it's not fabulous. It is a staph infection which is one thumb down. They also can't rule out osteomyelitis from the x-ray... double thumbs down. I am on I believe day 11 of 15 of antibiotics so they are almost done. I feel quite dead now though like everything that is good in my body (which isn't a whole lot haha) is dead too. The good news is that the infection is basically gone. I just have to wait another month to get the feeling back in the tip which isn't that bad! The plan is that when it comes back for the 6th time they will send me either to Yellowknife or Edmonton to have better tests done. Free trip woot woot :)! We should take bets to see how long it takes for it to come back. Winner gets a framed picture of my healed finger in the mail (so exciting eh?). I feel like this happened because I couldn't really let Jo outshine me in the whole, "I had osteomyelitis" thing. She had it as a kid twice and I think unconsciously I believe I have to get it three times to beat her in some way. I kid I kid! I don't want it and I hope that you never ever get it again Jo. What a horrible thing to go through as a little kid!

I haven't done a whole lot this week since I haven't been feeling the greatest. The weather has been kind of crappy up here too. I've never heard Diane complain about how hot it is but she's done a lot of complaining (about the heat in Toronto) so I think you should come up for a visit :)! Alex is coming home from Calgary tomorrow which I'm pretty excited about. I've missed that little bugger.

I'm also proud to tell everyone that I've been eating fairly healthy since I came up here. I eat cereal and fruit for breakfast every morning. It's honey nut cheerios not sugar crisp (which is my first fave). For lunch EVERY day I have the same salad: baby spinach, cheese, peas, cherry tomatoes, avocado, sliced almonds, basalmic and olive oil. I'm still kind of screwing up dinner but I finger I'll start at the beginning of my day and work towards the end. I still eat ice cream like it's going to become obsolete. However, I do think I've improved. Everyone that is close to me here figured out I had a ice cream habit realllly quickly. THEN they started to buy my ice cream all the time. But I've cut down. I can go a day or two without any and that is HUGE!

Ok it's bed time. I know that wasn't an exciting post but what can you expect for a Thursday evening?

Have a Fantastic Freaky Fabulous Friday Friends! FFFFF!

Good evening!

I worked overtime today for the community picnic at Pine Lake. I'm kind of glad that I did it since I would have been there anyways. My finger is getting better. The test results weren't in when I went on Thursday so he didn't want to cut the nail off as planned. He gave me another bottle of antibiotics for a total of 15 days of Keflax, 2000mg a day. Boo urns! Starting to feel a bit crappy on day 7 of them. Only 8 more days to go!

My partner in crime (PIC) has gone to Calgary to visit his family and watch the big air show in Airdrie. It was kind of odd not having him around this weekend since I have a weekday and a weekend home. Alex, Andy and Adam's place is my weekend home. Triple A's as I like to call them. The weekday and weekend homes are starting to get blurred a bit as of last week. I'm being a bit naughty haha!

On Friday I just had a quiet night for once and Saturday night we had a movie night at our friends Kalina and Tom's place. There were a few of us all cuddling it was pretty cute. We watched Benjamin Button which I've wanted to see for quite some time. I really liked it!

That's really all I got for this post. Boring I know! I'll post again when I have something more exciting to talk about! If anyone has any questions about life up here feel free to put them in the comments section or else I'll just keep rambling each post!

xoxo

I'm back from Yellowknife! It was a great little trip. I did far too much walking. Since I don't know YK well I decided to try and walk from Walmart to Old Town YK pushing a wheelchair. It's quite hilly and it turns out it is about 4km. I did it but it was a crazy crazy thing to do. I passed CBC North and I was going to take a picture of it and tag Andrew in it (my PG roomie who is obsessed with CBC) but I was too tired. I made a couple purchases... a new iphone cord since mine only works some of the time, Alice in Wonderland the movie, because Alex's cable cut out while we were watching it and the movie store here doesn't have it, and some sandal cleaner because I was all out. We had a scary take off on the way home to Smith. We got about half way down the runway and almost at full speed and we went out of control and had to stop and try the take off again. We were fishtailing like crazy. It was my roommate and another one of my friends flying. Here are some random pictures from YK. The one of the building has my finger in it but I took it because the house's exterior was metal or metal looking and it had all these little windows that looked like a port hole on a boat:

Next topic of conversation, my finger obviously! I got sent to the hospital from work on Friday afternoon because it was getting pretty bad. My boss was worried that I would catch the superbug in it haha. So anyways off to the hospital I went. I've got good and bad news. I'll start with the bad first. The doctor thinks I have osteomyelitis... which is a bone infection. The good news is that it's not confirmed yet so it might be something else. If it is a bone infection (we'll have a better idea tomorrow after I get my xray) I will be getting surgery in Edmonton and I'll have to be on medication/IV treatment for a minimum of two months. It does make sense though. He was basically saying that if it was a superficial infection that the 40 days worth of antibiotics that I've been on in the past year would have cleared it up. Each time I've been on the max dose of oral antibiotics you can be on (for the specific one I'm on), 2000mg a day for 10 days. There is a bruise over when the edge of the tip of my finger bone is and has been there since the begining, the infection keeps originating under the nail in the location of where the tip of the bone is, and I have a lot of symptoms of osteomyelitis (fatigue, swelling, open sore, stiffness). Fingers crossed that it isn't that because it would be bad news but at least it would be figured out then. I'm really sick of the infection. Right now I'm on the antibiotics and antibiotic cream. Fight it from the inside and outside. This is a picture of what my finger looked like on Friday:

My last topic of the night... Mountain Portage Rapids. I always think my posts are going to be short because I'm tired but they always end up being a novel. Anyways, Alex and I went on a hike to the other set of rapids (I've posted about the other two, this is the third and last one). There are tons of hidden beaches and bays it's super neat. I took some pictures which were all random shots but they turned out awesome. I promise I didn't plan the Alex in the air picture haha. We think the one of the egg is a pelican egg. Sad. It was such a huge egg!:

I'm so excited! I get to go to Yellowknife on Monday for an adventure. One of our residents has a doctors appointment there and there needs to be an escort to take him. My boss was really worried because this man has refused to get any more treatment before and doesn't like going to the doctors but she thought I might be able to convince him to go. She also said, "Even if he does go then I have to find someone to escort him... did you wanna take him?". She asked me kind of jokingly and I said I totally would and she was so excited. This guy and I get along so well. He agreed to go if I take him so off to Yellowknife we are going on Monday :). We leave super early and get back late but we can do whatever in our spare time, like go to Tim Hortons haha!

Speaking of Tim Hortons.. it's amazing to be friends with the pilots because of this:

They bring me back timmies from Edmonton!! Yes it is cold and yes I get it at night instead of in the morning but who cares.. it's timmies!

As I mentioned before, Alex helped me learn how to ride a bike again. Tonight we went on a fairly long ride (for me anyways). It's a lot of fun, I really want to buy a bike now. Here is a picture from a bike riding adventure last week:

BEE-YOU-Ti-Ful!

Canada Day was a lot of fun too. There was a parade (which I didn't make it out to) but they had another fish fry with bands playing and stuff. A fish fry if I didn't explain it before is basically where they BBQ enough food for basically the whole town, for free, right in front of you. Baked potatoes, fish, salad, etc. Delicious! Here are a couple pictures from the festivities:

Also on the weekend there was a big tennis tournament. Here is a picture of Andy and Darrin playing. Lots of the Northwestern (the airline company) guys' played in the tourney but they didn't win:

Ok that's all I got for now! Other than pictures of my infected finger and pictures of my mosquito bites which no one wants to see. I'm going to post some pictures of my room soon. I ordered a wardrobe thingy from sears because I have a closet that is a foot wide in this room. Other than the storage I LOVE the way my room is looking :)! I'll hopefully take a few pictures in Yellowknife. I'm sad that I just missed Wills and Kate (like they're my best friends haha). Oh and our residents came back today after being evacuated. We went to pick them up at the airport and I got to drive around on the tarmac inside the gates where all the planes are!

Ok bedtime :)! Night night! xo

Hello All!

Well I moved into my new place yesterday. All my stuff is coming on Monday though. I left all my stuff in my car but locked it because I was too tired to bring it in and basically our whole town got their cars broken into. Everyone of my roommates got their cars trashed. Mostly just the insides but a couple of the exteriors got scraped up a bit. On Facebook there are so many people with status' saying their cars got trashed too. So sad. Crystal has never had this happened and she's lived here for four years. It was probably just some teenagers being hooligans!

In other bad news. My finger is reinfected. I AM SOOO SOOO ANGRY! I do not understand. For those who don't know this is the fifth time in a year that my pointer finger on my dominant hand has become infected. Each time the doctors try to get me to wait it out until it's super bad and then I have to go on 10 days worth of antibiotics four times a day. The two doctors I've been to have NO ideas why it keeps getting infected. It is soo friggin weird. Ugh.. so frustrating.

This weekend is going to be great. Lots of stuff going on for Canada Day... and I have four days off :). YAY! Anyways I'm going to go off to start my weekend so I'll post later on :). Happy Canada Day!
