Such a fun weekend! Lots to talk about and a few pictures. First off, so sad about the plane crash up here this weekend! Some crazy facts from it: Two of the passengers were on a plane crash up in the area in 2008 and one of them was in another plane crash 30 years ago. Crazyyy! Apparently they were both scared to get on the flight and one of them was really scared. Amazing that three people survived! One of the pilots up here was good friends with the co-pilot of that flight (he lost his life) so there were lots of drinks to Dave the co-pilot this weekend.
This weekend was the South Slave Friendship Festival. Side note: One of my friends up here has a brother that lives in the southern states so she sent him a t-shirt that said "South Slave Friendship Festival" to wear down there haha, oh boy!
One Friday night we went out to the bar which was fun. Live bands all night, from all over the north. Nothing too substantial happened that night. Kalina's mom came out and partied which was amazing. Saturday, we went to watch a baseball tourney. I was more interested in the sky. Here is a picture of the sky:
After the game we went downtown where Kalina was helping with a workshop in the park. They took dead fish, painted them and imprinted them onto t-shirts. I don't have any pictures unfortuantely but it was actually pretty cool!
I really wanted to get a nap in before Saturday evening but that didn't happen because Alex and I went to say goodbye to his friend who was flying back to Fort Mac. Here's some pictures at the float base:
Pierre, the float plane pilot, was about to leave and then he asked if I have ever been in a float plane before. I told him that obviously I had, I just sat in his and pretended to fly it, he saw it, geez what a stupid question. But he meant up in the air. I hadn't so he decided before heading back to Fort Mac he'd take me for a spin! So exciting! Alex and his friend Benno came with us. Here is the video of the landing!

One of our friend's parents has an annual BBQ where they serve lots of different smoked meat. Unfortuantely we were a little too late so we went straight to the Shaker. The Shaker is the equivalent to MayDays/our rodeo thingy. Everyone drinking in the area. Big ol' party, great ol' time. The theme was Shaker in Wonderland and they had pretty great decorations. My friend Katie dressed up as the cat and I have an amazing picture of her, I need to get this framed:
Last but not least, I was eaten alive as usual this weekend. I took some pictures but they didn't turn out so well. They are either Noseeums or Sand Flies.. whatever they are, they are itchy. I have them all over my neck and collar bones, behind my ears, on my legs, on my chest, they suck. I have a cluster of 10 bites on the back of my neck and I have no idea what they are because they don't look like the rest.
Sunday it was a day of being mush on the couch. Although we did go for a bike ride. We watched Life Cycles, the mountain biking video from the Koots which Alex and Adam absolutely loved. I was so excited because I kept pumping them up for it but I hadn't seen it so I was hoping it wouldn't disappoint and it didn't! We also watch Your Highness with Natalie Portman. The raunch, unrated version. It did not disappoint on the rauchiness scale. It scored an 11 on a scale of 1-10.
That's all I got for now. I'll try and think of more stuff tomorrow. I have other stories but they are inappropriate for my blog haha. I do want to write a post this week that will be boring to everyone who reads it but I'm so annoyed with how inaccessibly this town is for people who are disabled. The pharmacy doesn't have automatic doors, plus you have to go up a ramp and get through two heavy doors that are perpendicular to one another to get in the store. Then the aisles aren't very wide to get a wheelchair through (the pharmacy area is at the back, far corner. The aisles that are wide enough usually have stuff on the floor. Ridiculous. That's just one building. This deserves a whole post. Look for it soon on Mittens and Mukluks haha I advertise my blog, within my blog. I'm silly. Goodnight, sleep tight!

I do have pictures to share but unfortunately my power cable to my laptop has failed. I ordered a new one in before it died because I knew it was either going to die soon/catch on fire and burn my house down and destroy my laptop all together. Anyways being in the north it takes awhile to get here. I've been tracking it through fedex and it's been in Edmonton for days with no movement. Fedex obviously doesn't come here so they switch it over to someone who does but they are probably confused. Luckily my upstairs roomie has a macbook and he has been super super kind with letting my charge my laptop a couple times per day. Super annoying for him, life saver for me! It takes up too much battery power to upload pictures so you will have to wait until my cord comes in or until the end of the weekend if I can borrow his for a little bit. This weekend it is the South Slave Friendship Festival... kind of like may days is for Trail or winter carnival for Rossy, SSFF is to Smith. Wish me luck that I survive! xoxo

Hihi!
Just before bedtime here so this is gonna be short! It was raining most of the weekend so there's not a whole lot that is new with me. We went out Friday night because there are a few people leaving town this week including a girl that I went to elementary school with so that was good times. Yesterday everyone was pretty hung over so we all took it easy. Alex and I made a big breakfast and basically called it a day. We had movie night as per usual on Saturday night. Today it was raining all day so our plans of fishing and bike riding didn't happen but I did get my wardrobe built. Maybe I'll post some room pics tomorrow if I have time. Now I have a place to put my clothessss yay!
In other news, it is getting colder up here and we are losing 6 minutes of day light every day. Yep so every 10 days we have lost an hour. It is dark out when I go to bed now.. so strange. Still light out when I get up though :).
See wasn't that such an exciting post? Ok I'll try and post pics tomorrow (not that I have many) and now it is bedtime! Night night! xoxo

It's Captain Katrina here... or Captain Ratgirl to Alex and my brother Jordon. Unfortunately I thought it was a good idea to tell Alex the story of why my brother calls me ratgirl. It has stuck. Anyways, Alex took me to the airport tonight to try out the flight simulator. So cool! It's on the computer but it has all the controls and foot pedals like a real airplane. You can pick any airport and any plane and try flying it. Alex took a sweet pic of my flying in Trail... I'm so serious, but hey, when you are a captain you have to be serious:
As you can see I was wearing my aviator sunglasses because I was practicing my aviation skills... it's a must. Here I am when I crashed at the Trail airport (my mom's worst fear coming true):
That's all I got for tonight because it is wayyy past my bedtime!
Nightnight! xoxo
-Captain RatKat
PS: I promoted myself from flight simulator to Captain of the water bomber. I just bypass first officer to captain because I'm way to good to not be in the captain seat.

Back by popular demand!
I'm so glad that people like my blog so much that when I'm gone from it for a week that people start bugging me to post! Well you are in luck friends.. I have some pictures for you! Where to start, where to start.
Well... my roomie got a new kitten. His name is Carrots. Yes, Carrots. Carrots kept me up from 4-7am last night. I'm pretty tired so if this post doesn't make sense, it's Carrots' fault! Here is a picture of the little bugger sucking on my blanket. He loves my blanket:
Now the name Carrots makes sense right? I bet you were wondering, "I wonder where she got the name Carrots from?", well now you are enlightened. Can you tell that I'm running on no sleep? I do not have a picture of his face because he doesn't stop sucking my blanket long enough to get a picture of his face.
Ok story number deux: Is anyone shocked that it has to do with my health? No I didn't think so. I ended up getting these sore/abrasion like thingies along my spine sometime last week. So weird. I hope I'm not dying, It kinda looks like I got dragged behind a car on my back. As far as I can remember that didn't happen. They are starting to go away, I hope they don't come back. I showed my roomie them and she just laughed and said, "You know, any other person and I'd be like, "What the hell is going on here?" but it just doesn't surprise me with you anymore". Yep and I've only known her for three months. It's all down hill from here folks! Heres the pic:
My friend Alex that moved (there are two Alex's) just uploaded a picture to facebook that he edited of me (good thing he edited haha). I had no idea he even took it. I love it!
What else is there. Oh, this is another random one, but last night Alex rode me home (I know that sounds really dirty but what it really means is that I walked home and he rode his bike beside me, I really don't know the proper term for that so I often ask if he is riding me home and then I get all embarrassed). So anyways, we saw a sweet cloud. No really, an awesome cloud. Here it is, along with another awesome cloud (I need to stop hanging out with pilots because then I'd have more interests than looking at clouds all day long):
This past weekend there was Paddlefest happening in Smith. Paddlefest.. or PF for short, is an annual kayaking and canoeing festival with races and events and all that shebang! It was raining all weekend so we only got out to see them paddle on Sunday afternoon and it wasn't too exciting. Here's a couple pics. One is of our friends Kalina and Tom, a couple from Abbotsford. The other is from a little kid in a dingy, in the rapids. More guts than I'll ever have!
Here is a picture of my place of work:
Oh! I just found another one that Alex took of me! Sweet, he's the greatest. Both Alex's are the greatestests:
Last week, some of our friends were camping at the local campground in town.. even though it was pouring rain. I took some pictures out there too.. they are pretty great. One is of our friend fake sleeping in his trunk, another is of Alex and a couple friends, and another will be a surprise (not a very exciting one):
Camping made me think of the fact that my mom and Paul (the only readers of this blog haha) decided that they are coming to visit after not seeing me for a year and a half (really what parent does that, geez). They decided that it was seeing me or going to Vegas again for the second time in like a year and a half. I woulda gone to Vegas but that's just me.
Last but not least of this super random blog post, Alex taught me how to balance a can of pop/beer on it's edge at breakfast the other morning. I'm probably the only person who doesn't know this trick but whatever, I can still tie cherry stems in knots in my mouth (really quick too) and YOU can't:
Ok there you go friends! That's all I got for now. I hope I didn't make too many mistakes, I'm too lazy to proof-read. I hope it wasn't too hard of a read :)! It's past my bedtime!
Night night! xoxo
